Description
Bayside Live Rock
Live rock is 100% naturally collected and is popular because it introduces a diverse array of bacteria and algae to the closed marine environment. It also functions as a superior biological filter that hosts aerobic and anaerobic nitrifying bacteria.
Our live rock is cured prior to delivery, which involves leaving the rock to sit in water for up to several weeks to ensure all dead organisms have decomposed and no longer pose a threat to water quality. Because the rock is sun dried before it ships, it is free of live pests and hitch-hikers commonly found on naturally collected living rock.
Features
• 100% naturally collected from the ocean
• Natural pores aid in biological filtration and water circulation
• Provides hiding places for fish and invertebrate
Our rock is a "green" sustainable product, because it is not harvested from a marine environment it has no negative impact on our delicate reef or marine ecosystem.
Disclaimer: While there is still a moratorium/ban on collecting live rock in most regions of the world, our inventory is acquired from local reef aquarists whenever a large reef system is wound down. It undergoes a though cleaning and curing process over a course of many weeks.
