The NuvoSkim protein skimmer is about average. Pros: The biggest selling point is that it fits in the back of any Desktop IM tanks, it does work reasonably well and isn't that noisy due to the included air muffler. Cons: It's a bit finicky to assemble, reliability with the DC motor has been hit and miss (already one replaced under warranty) and the collection cup is quite possibly the worst ever designed (the air holes in the lid constantly get clogged up, it leaks around the o-ring and it fills up far too often for my liking).
