The Yellow Banded Coral Shrimp, also known as the banded coral shrimp or banded cleaner shrimp, has a striking colouration with the carapace, abdomen and the large third pereiopod all banded red and white. The antennae and other pereiopods are white. The abdomen, carapace and third pereiopods are also covered in spines.
These shrimp are ideal for any size reef aquarium, and will perform a cleaning function by picking parasites and dead tissue from fish. It will advertise to passing fish by slowly waving its long, white antennae, and sufficient space should be provided in the tank to allow the shrimp to move with its long antennae. It must be kept singly, or as a true mated pair, being intolerant of others of the same species. It will also typically harass other smaller shrimp of different species.
